Workshop Description: Cluster B Personality disorders are among the most prevalent and difficult to treat mental health conditions identified within current psychiatric paradigms. Due to the prevalence of these disorders, the vast majority of mental health clinicians will encounter clients suffering from these conditions on a regular basis beginning early in our careers. In spite of their high prevalence, many clinicians do not receive adequate preparation and training for dealing with the risks and challenges associated with caring for individuals suffering from Cluster B personality disorders. Interactions with this population are often associated with clinician burnout and relatively poor treatment outcomes. This workshop will aim to help clinicians of all levels review their diagnostic and clinical methods for identifying and remediating the psychopathology inherent to this population of clients.

This workshop will examine in detail a wide range of theoretical and clinical outcome research that will help to improve your ability to accurately identify, categorize, and treat Cluster B conditions as they present in a variety of settings. The workshop is designed to be stimulating, engaging, and widely relevant to a diverse group of clinical practitioners. Join us as we delve into this intriguing and crucial domain!

Learning Objectives: In this workshop, you will learn how to:

-Broaden your knowledge through a careful survey of research findings related to Cluster B personality disorders

-Familiarize yourself with effective approaches to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of these commonly occurring, treatment resistant conditions

-Use factor analytic approaches to create detailed characterizations of Cluster B disorders as they present in a wide range of clinical settings and populations

-Review effective clinical models, interventions, and approaches for overcoming treatment barriers to help your clients make lasting changes in their lives

-Learn to critically evaluate your own approaches and advance your clinical knowledge through comprehensive case conceptualization

-Discuss complex real-life case studies and examples in order to apply learned knowledge and help clients achieve their clinical goals.
